Christian Unity Group, Nyalkinyi

The Christian Unity Group continues to support the village of Nyalkinyi in Kenya by providing clean water, a medical facility and farming project.

At present one borehole has been successfully dug with 4 more due to be completed by the end of the year.  A Grade 2 Dispensary is up and running with local Ministry of Health support.  Fields have been purchased and it is hoped to support a farming project to feed the vulnerable primary school children.

Further funds are required to provide initial training and personnel payments.  A local committee has been formed to start taking responsibility for the projects and it is hoped that with efficient management the projects will become self sufficient.

Members of the Unity Group have been out to visit the village, at their own expense, each year since 2006 to give encouragement and support.

The aim of this project has always been to provide some of the basics of life for the people of Nyalkinyi and here are some of the comments we have received over the years.

“You have brought Life to our village, thank you so much.”

Church Minister

“You are making real our Millennium objectives of water, health care and a better future for our children, thank you.”  A Village Elder

“Am happy to tell you that the hospital in Nyalkinyi is working well and is helping a lot of people.  We really appreciate and pray for the success of the project.  We all hope for the best, the team are doing a great job.  Pass my greetings to all.”  Jacinta

“It was so nice talking to you over the phone while you were still in Kenya.  But above all else, I was so privileged to have hosted you and the whole group the first time you came to Homa Bay (Nyalkinyi) as witnesses of the living charity of our Lord Jesus Christ.  I am told the dispensary is now working, thanks to God and to you all.  I will never cease thanking God for you all for the sacrifice you made and continue to make to ensure your brothers and sisters in that part of Kenya get medical help and more.  That can not have come from the human will and efforts alone but is originally the working of God's grace.  May His name ever be praised in what you do.  Amen
