Friends of Ecce Homo Trust
Ecce Homo is a Christian charity based in Cluj, Romania but operating in a number of other areas in that country. They care for the poorest of the poor offering practical as well as spiritual support.
Friends of Ecce Homo Trust is a Jersey registered Trust set up to provide practical and financial support. Ecce Homo run residential family homes; La Noi (“Our place”) is a purpose built home for between19 -25 deprived (street) children or those who, for one reason or another, find themselves without a home and support. These children are given not just a roof over their heads but a home where they are well loved and cared for in body, mind and spirit.
A-mic is a foster home for a family of 12 children – ranging in age from 4 -16 years. This has a real family atmosphere and the love and care given to each child is inspiring, challenging and moving.
The back- bone of our work is in child and family support. Over 130 families are supported on a sponsorship basis by Jersey residents.
We also support a farming project which is able not only to produce potatoes and other mainly root crops to help poor families but also to offer seasonal work to the unemployed.
A team of supporters meet weekly to sort and pack a wide variety of goods including clothing, bedding, educational items and so on which enable us to ship out 3-4 containers of aid each year which is distributed to needy families, schools and hospitals.
An ambitious project currently in the planning stage is a home for retired people. There is very little provision for this age group in Romania at the moment. We are currently seeking planning permission and funds
