Report: Mifumi, June 2010
During the last twelve months the Methodist Fraternity and in particular St Ouen's Methodist Church have been active in raising money for Mifumi Primary School with various meetings around the island. Furthermore Grouville Primary School adopted Mifumi during the academic year 2008/9.
As a result of many fundraising projects and a generous pound for pound grant from the Jersey Overseas Aid Commission many improvements have been made to the school.
In a recent letter from the Headmaster dated May 2010 he writes,
' Re: Report on Donations from Jersey.
School kitchen - the construction is almost complete. The building has bee plastered and flooring is complete.
Course books and readers - these were ordered and have been delivered to the school.
Furniture - these include classroom tables and office chairs. Some have been delivered and others will be delivered shortly.
Electrical work at school - this has been completed and is working well. Utensils - the three saucepans and metallic drum have been bought and delivered to the school. Two saucepans are already in use.
Once again I wish to expess our sincere gratitude for these great gifts from Jersey.
Regards, Bernard, Headmaster.'
In addition the Project has received some very generous gifts from other local sources and it is hoped to commence building Changing Rooms shortly for boys and girls.
