Island Aid for World Children
Island Aid for World Children was founded in 2004 by Alan & Sandra Cameron.
Our aim is to help the children in the Third World get a better start in life.
To do this we help to build orphanages, schools and training centres. We also maintain our projects until they become self-sufficient.
The schools we help to build are in rural areas, where the children would normally have to walk for several miles to get to a school. It would probably be overcrowded with 60 or more children to a class, with not enough desks, and many classes being held under a tree; so if it rains there is no school that day.
By building schools near to the villages, the children are not tired when they get there, and with classes of fewer pupils they can all get the attention they need to pass their exams & go on to further education.
Island Aid for World Children has also helped to build training centres for young adults once they have left school. These help them to learn a trade and how to run their own business.
There is still a big problem of HIV, AIDS and malaria in Third World countries, with many children becoming orphans. We help to build orphanages to give them shelter and food, and help them attend school. Hopefully they have a better life than living on the streets begging, falling victims to drugs, alcohol and prostitution.
We also provide money for boreholes to be dug to enable people to have fresh, clean water.
Island Aid for World Children has also purchased land for a farm, and sent over five 20ft containers to Ghana to help the orphanage.
